I got one of those double board consumer units with an RCD on each side. The left side has all six ring mains for the house, and the right side is for the lights, hob and cooker.
Here's the weird thing. So, whenever I plug something in and use power from any of the sockets on the left side, the RCD on the right side trips, turning off all my lights and the cooker, but the sockets stay on!
This happens with anything that uses a bit of power, like a vacuum cleaner, kettle, or water heater. I have an alarm system, but I completely disconnected it, and the problem is still happening.
Some of the MCBs on the left side were tripping the right safety switch too, so I've turned them off for now. Does anyone know what happened here?
