Your utility might set this up for you for free- and give you a lower rate for EV charging from that meter. They do this for both single and three phase systems. Commercial and residential.
Here, DTE Energy offers several options. One is Time of Day and another is Smart Charge. You get lower rates, plus a monthly bonus for participating.
With Time of Day, you choose when to charge. If you are charging during the off-peak, the rate is lower. Time of Day applies to everything on your service.
For example- You get a lower rate for using a washing machine or anything else during off-peak hours.
With Smart Charge, they choose when to charge & shift times based on demand for their system.
Perhaps your local utility has similar programs.
