Inspectors in KY are starting to bring up new code yet?

Has anyone started seeing local inspectors in Kentucky enforcing any of the 2025 NEC changes yet? I’ve been hearing different things depending on the county like some are saying they’re starting to apply a few of the new rules already, others saying it won’t officially roll out until next year. On a couple of jobs, I’ve had inspectors mention upcoming changes to GFCI placement and service equipment labeling, but nothing written up yet. Just trying to figure out if I should start updating my workflow now or wait until it’s officially adopted statewide. What are you guys seeing on your recent inspections?

sounds about right. Some counties are jumping the gun and referencing the 2025 NEC even though it’s not officially adopted yet. I’ve had inspectors “suggest” changes but not fail anything over it. Probably smart to start adjusting now, though like it’ll save you from redoing things once the rollout hits.

Typical code transition mess. Half the inspectors still go by 2020, the other half are “preview enforcing” the new book. Best move is to start designing to 2025 standards now like no one’s going to ding you for being ahead of the curve.

Do you guys mean either the 2023 or 2026 NEC?
Or maybe the State's Electrical Code you're in?

California will be adopting the 2023 NEC for the 2025 California Electrical Code cycle.

In my experience with KY inspectors, if they’re starting to mention it during walkthroughs, a formal adoption is right around the corner
I’d start updating your workflow on the lowcost stuff now, like the new labeling requirements
It’s much cheaper to start doing it today than to have to go back and retroactively fix ten jobs because the state officially flipped the switch on the 2025 NEC midproject!

This is a good thread because KY can vary a lot by jurisdiction. If folks reply, please include your county, the AHJ, and whether it was a verbal heads up or an actual correction notice. That will help everyone update workflows without guessing in the middle of winter jobs.
