Does fall mean more work or more downtime for you?

Is it just me or does October always flip the switch on workload? Here in Kansas, it feels like every client suddenly wants everything done before winter rolls in. I’ve been bouncing between a couple of remodels and a few outdoor panel installs, and the schedule’s been packed solid since the start of the month.

I’m curious if this happens everywhere or if it’s just a Midwest thing. Do your calls slow down once the weather cools off, or does everyone start rushing to get their projects wrapped up? Seems like once the first cold front hits, people start panicking about heat, lighting, and upgrades.

Definitely busier. Cooler weather means heaters, holiday lights, and every “we’ve been meaning to fix that” call you can imagine. It slows down eventually, but not until January.

That pre-winter rush definitely seems real. Outdoor work gets crammed in before weather turns, and indoor projects suddenly take priority. I wonder if folks in warmer states see the same spike or if it evens out year-round like what’s everyone’s experience been?

I work industrial & transmission/distribution. (In Michigan) The only residential or commercial jobs I do are "Government Jobs" (Friend & family freebies) But..

Absolutely the "Hi How have you been? Oh by the way..." phone calls increase this time of year.
"We're remodeling the kitchen and need..." is a popular one.

yeah, it happens everywhere, but the Midwest rush might feel more intense because of the quick shift from mild to freezing
this happens because people are suddenly panicking about the cold (HVAC heat related electrical fixes) and they are trying to spend any remaining budget money or tax credits before the calendar flips in December.
Your panel installs are definitely a result of people wanting service upgrades done before the first blizzard hits. Enjoy the rush! It's usually the final huge push before things genuinely quiet down in January/February.
