crazy high electrician bill

so here's what happened and if anyone has insights about this, feel free to comment. an advice on how to go about this would be great.

We requested an electrician to change lightbulbs and about 3 sockets in the house. we only have a small 1 bedroom apartment, for reference.
it's all good until the bill came. a whopping $2600! they listed a few more things that we didnt ask for and around 30+ hours of labor.

the thing is, we were not around when they did the fixing so we didnt get to check the work that they're claiming they did.

it all depends on what's been done. Many homeonwers neglect things and we as electricians may need to work on them. I'm not taking sides, just explaining how things work. With that said, whoever worked shoulve asked for authorization before doing anything. Ask for clarification about the extra things and consult another electrician to make sure you didn't get ripped off

ok ok, let's calm down first. I understand where you're coming from. in this case, communication is the key. whatever it is, it should've had authorization before they worked on it. discuss it with the electrician to find a potential solution. if you can't reach a resolution, you probably need to think about legal options
