The Panel checklist that keeps callbacks away

When you finish upgrading a panel, what is your go to checklist before you officially call it done? Everyone seems to have their own routine, from torque checks to labeling to one final look at wire management just to make sure nothing sneaks up later. Curious what steps you never skip before you close the door and head out. It might give newer folks a good idea of what habits actually matter out in the field.
 
My routine’s not fancy, but it saves me from headaches. I always torque the lugs twice, once during install and once right before closing up. Then I do a dumb little “tug test” on every breaker wire because loose conductors love ruining your week. Last thing is labeling, not pretty, just correct. If the homeowner can’t figure out what switches what, guess who they call back?
 
Absolutely I appreciate Alan & Loto_Arusu mentioning torque re-checks! So many 'electricians' on DIY type forums have bad mouthed me for suggesting it. (When will I learn to keep my mouth shut?). The Tug Test is appreciated as well.

When stranded is involved, I torque, then wait several minutes before returning later to re-check. I even do this with devices and cord caps. (My work doesn't typically involve solid, such as NM, but I would do this anyway.)

Extra Fine Strand, such as Type W, is a prime candidate for re-checking torque. And "Shoes" over the strands are an absolute necessity. Oh boy does fine strand ever need re-checking!

PS: At the end of a project segment, I also do an "Oops Check", looking for tools or debris I may have overlooked on the first go-around.

My routine’s still evolving, but the stuff I never skip is torque checks and labeling. If anything’s gonna cause a callback, it’s a loose lug or someone not knowing what breaker feeds what. I also give the whole panel a quick “wiggle test” before closing it up. Saves me stress later.

Once, on one of the big DIY forums, I commented that torque checks are important. I received about 20 people posting that I was an idiot and torque testing isn't needed. I got called everything but human.

Guess the DIY crowd knows more than electricians do. (It was NOT the sister forum to this- HouseRepairTalk where people are friendly and help each other.)
