I've been working as an electrician for more than 15 years (UK based) and have never heard that i have to install AFDs on a building that's under 18 meters tall. The regulations say that AFDs needs to be installed on a building above 18 meters and according to all of the documents and insurance paperwork the building is 16.62 meters. is there something i'm missing or is someone trying to profit from this?

Ok, your building has proof it's just 16.62 m so I don't think you have to worry about the 18 meter requirement anyway. Just make sure you are reading the latest guidelines because who knows they might be requiring it now for buildings over 15 m!
