NICEIC - I'm a member but is it worth it?

Hi all, new here so please be patient!

I'd very much appreciate all of your experience and advice.

I'm registered with NICEIC on their 'Domestic Installer' scheme but have recently had a very bad experience and am seriously considering leaving.

The question is, what are the drawbacks? The main ones I can see are the loss of their online form filling and access to their building control filings.
My customers don't care if I'm NICEIC so any advertising benefit is negligible.

So, if I'm not a scheme member how do I notify councils for building control? And what are typical costs of this?

And what software do people use to produce and save EICRs and EICs?

All opinions and advice very welcome.

do you want to drop out of the CPS scheme altogether or just leave niceic?
Napit is another CPS scheme who also do a couple of certificate scheme options.

NICEIC membership is more about prestige and profit than protecting electricians, councils still need certs, but plenty of pros self-certify or use cheaper schemes without feeding NICEIC's bloated bureaucracy
