Ignition PCB

My ignition PCB opens a valve but just wont ignite. My cheap tester shows the fuse is okay and a low reading on the output. A phone repair guy I know found a blown capacitor but can't really identify its specs. Can I diagnose more with just my multimeter? How do I figure out the capacitor's values to order a replacement?
 
For you to be able to check most of the components properly you would need to take them off the pcb first or at least one leg or more. From there, let us know.

If it's part of the power section then it's likely electrolytic so somewhere around 16v to 30v. So I guess use the same capacitance and equal/higher voltage when replacing! And I'm for sure there are parts listed online if the PCB is part of your appliance?

If your multimeter has a capacitance mode, yank the cap out, discharge it, and measure it. If not, set it to resistance: it should start low and climb. Stuck at zero? It's shorted. Infinite? It's open.

For values, look for numbers like 104 (that's 100,000 pF or 0.1 µF) and a voltage rating (like 25V). No markings? Compare to a similar board or part nearby, or ballpark it based on where it sits in the circuit (ignition control caps are often 0.1–1 µF, 50–400V depending on type).
 
Absolutely, that's some solid advice! Do you usually test it right in-circuit, or do you prefer to pull the cap out first just to be on the safe side?
