How to install a ceiling fan in a metal stud

My grandparents want their condo a bit more comfortable, especially with this heat!

they bought a nice ceiling fan and thought it'd be a breeze to install.

Turns out, their building has metal studs in the ceiling frame, not the usual wood.

I'm helping them install it, but a bit stumped on the best and safest way to get this fan up.

Any chance you know the best approach for installing a ceiling fan in a metal stud frame apartment building like this?

I agree with this. i think you can find these brackets on Amazon or Home depot. It's a bit more involved than wood, so take your time and prioritize a strong, secure mount for your grandparents' safety!

I'd make sure to use a brace specifically rated for metal studs when installing your ceiling fan. Properly secure it between the joists, and don't forget to check that the electrical box you're using can support the weight of the fan, too.

I agree with them! Make sure the fan is attached to something strong, like a fan-rated brace or box made for metal framing, so it's held firmly between the studs. Don't just screw it into the metal, as that won't last. If you can't get to it from above, you can use an expandable brace from below that locks into the metal channels.
