Bathroom fan

Hello

Im renovating my downstairs cloakroom with an openable window and thought about adding a fan
As you can see from the pics i have neutral and switched live at ceiling rose and 2 permanent lives and switched live (3 single core and earths) at pull cord, so there is no permanent live at ceiling rose and there is no neutral at switch.
Am i right in thinking a bathroom fan needs a live neutral and switch live or can a fan be wired without a neutral?
If a fan cannot be wired without a neutral can i run a single core neutral from ceiling rose to switch or run a permanent lives from switch to ceiling rose (if can which way better?) then use a 3core&earth to isolator switch then to fan.
I know regs say you do not need a fan in a cloak room with just a toilet and sink with a openable window, so is it worth the hassle to put a fan in (asuming i can run a single core neural from ceiling rose to switch or single core permanent live from switch to ceiling Rose)

Based on your terminology and the wire colors, it looks like you are in the UK. I'm over in the States myself, so I cannot give specific advice on your local codes. I can tell you from experience though that running a single wire through a wall is not a good practice anywhere, as we always run a complete new cable. Mixing old and new wiring can be tricky, so sometimes the best tool in the box is to call a local electrician.

As is Zen'heist'dj, I am in the United States & covered by our national and local electrical codes. We don't know where your project ls located.
So, no code advice I can give.

But, physics wise-
For Fan Only
In the switch box, you have two wires. One is constantly energized and one goes up to the ceiling box. Is this correct?
If So-
At the ceiling box, use the neutral for the fan and use the switched conductor from the switch for the line side of the fan.

Fan & Light
If you want a fan & light in the same fixture & from the same switch box, you will have to install one more conductor from ceiling to switch box.

Since you have no neutral in the switch box, if you choose to use a motor speed control, it will have to be the type which requires no neutral. (They exist and are easy to find.)

This would meet code in the United States. (Other than no neutral in the switch box. That requirement is rather new to our code.)

Running 3core and earth from pull cord is the best option in my humble opinion.
