A cold week reminder about breaker headroom

Had a breaker trip during the first cold stretch of the season, even though that circuit handled the same load all year without complaints. No new devices, no changes. Just colder weather and heavier use.

It wasn’t a problem exactly, more of a reminder. Winter really has a way of showing where systems are running close to their limits. Made me want to look at things a bit more closely before the season gets deeper.

Curious if others notice more nuisance trips once winter usage patterns settle in.

Cold weather definitely changes load patterns fast. Circuits that were fine all year suddenly get pushed a little harder once winter habits kick in.

Did the trip happen during a peak moment or just regular use?

Was it a standard breaker or AFCI/GFCI combo? And did it trip instantly or after a while? I’ve noticed winter trips are either “it’s actually overloaded because everything’s running longer” or “AFCI gets picky when motors/fans kick on more often.”
