A couple of moths ago I found a small motel-like house that I plan to use to rent out the apartments. They're not the biggest in the world, but are good for tourists, but there's something that's bothering me with the electrical setup. The building has one main meter and an additional one for each apartment, expect for the main one where I believe the previous owners lived, which draws power from the meter of rht apartment next ot it. While the prefious owner said there wasn'y any problems with it, I think there may be, so I'm looking for potential ways of solving this. I could combine the big apartment with the smaller one and leave then on the same meter, or should I add a new meter? Or should I leave it as it is?

Use a separate meter for the bigger apartment! It's not gonna be fair if they share a meter lol how exactly can you check the accurate consumption? This should be an easy answer for you.

That setup sounds a bit sketchy, especially if one unit's pulling power off another's meter, are you planning to charge tenants separately for utilities, or is it all going to be included in rent?
