Hi everyone, quick community update for the Electricians Forum.

A few years back, we offered a dedicated mobile app for the forum and many members really liked it. We ended support once it became clear that the company behind it was not handling user data in a way we could stand behind. Protecting this community and your privacy comes first for us, always.

We have been looking for a better option ever since, and Gather is the next step. It is a new mobile app built specifically for forum communities, with privacy and responsible data handling at the center of it.

If you would like to be notified when it launches, you can join the waitlist here:
https://gather.forum/

If you have questions or concerns you want us to bring up to the Gather team, feel free to reply in this thread and we will collect them.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll join the waitlist. If Gather makes it easier to search old Electricians Forum threads on the go, that’s a win.

Nice, been wanting a cleaner mobile experience. Biggest question from me is notifications. Can we control alerts per subforum and per thread so it does not turn into a nonstop buzz.

Thanks for putting privacy first on this. Appreciate the update. For the Electricians Forum I mostly just want something that’s quick to check on a jobsite without turning into a data vacuum.

The non app alternative is...

No instant notifications.

A daily digest sent to email. It's a choice each member can set.

I get these for the Plumbing forum and this Electrician forum, which are highly related (forum tech/platform wise). They each arrive every morning around 7am? Eastern for each platform. It's so easy to quickly scan the active and new threads (showing not all but most recent comment for each thread. Then I tap on the thread(s) I find of interest and either my cellphone email or PC email launches a browser for the full thread. And on cellphone (I use Gmail app on cellphone) I can hit either top or bottom Back arrow button and I get right back to the email where I was choosing among threads to dive into .

Appreciate the flexibility of choices! Both forums are way more like a community (smaller, nicer, etc) than for example Reddit...and despite just being a retired tech guy with DIY tendencies as homeowner, I spend a TON of time on Reddit. (Picking and choosing posts that I find worthy of my advice mostly). Hi from Maine USA.
